Speech and Debate is for all those students looking to improve on their public speaking.  In debate, students will get a chance to learn the ins and outs of winning an argument (in both Canadian and British Parliamentary styles this year!). Students can pop in and practice OR they can sign up for competitions against rival schools.  In Speech, students will practice public speaking. This can be improvised speeches, poetry, acting, really any version of standing up and talking in front of an audience. Students can pop in and practice OR they can sign up to compete against rival schools.

The Warrior Diversity Council (WDC) operates in conjunction with the Warrior Voice Council to elevate Student Voice and Celebrate the Diversity of our Warrior Family. The WDC has supported and facilitated student-led initiatives to acknowledge days and months of significance, recognize the historic and contemporary social/cultural/economic/political contributions of Canadians with a variety of intersectional identities, and created multiple opportunities for students to learn more about  from each other during our annual “Culture Days” festivities. 

Students interested in joining are encouraged to attend weekly, but are welcome to join as required to support specific events or objectives of the council – or – when available.

All students are welcome to join Brave Dogs to learn about Indigenous art, culture, and history. The Brave Dogs Lodge will pass on cultural teachings through storytelling, traditional activities, leadership skills, Circle of Courage teachings, Elder guidance, and cultural field trips.

The YMCA Achievement Program is a free for high school youth and young adults who are second generation or newcomers to Canada. Through weekly after-school sessions and special events, YMAP youth work to develop essential skills that assist in a positive and healthy integration into Canada, while also maintaining and celebrating their cultures of origin. They engage in community work through volunteer and fundraising projects throughout the city.
